Benefits of Rotary Screw Compressors

A rotary screw compressor can be best explained as a type of compressor that compresses gas in a rotary and has a positive mechanism displacement.  This type of compressor basically uses two meshed helical gears that constantly run, oiled or oil-free.

These two gears bring air between each other as their rotors turn continuously, with one end serving as an inlet that lets the air enter the compressor.  The other end is an outlet where the compressed air comes out of the gear.  The air is squeezed through the gears, which forces it into compression.  It then exits out of the other end as a compressed air.

VFD keeps a quieter gear on rotary screw compressors than other types of compressor.  Though still a compressor with positive displacement, it has a far lesser increase of gas during the process of compression than the temperature of a reciprocal compressor.  The efficiency of this type of compressor greatly depends on the oil seal planted between the gears if the device is oiled.  As for the oil-free ones, timing gears are in use.

Rotary Screw Compressors are now very common that it has almost replaced piston or reciprocal compressors, wherein large volumes of high pressure air are needed.  Unlike piston compressors, there is very minimal amount of spill back or pulsation on the compression process of a rotary screw as it sweeps in constant motion.   There is no friction driven as a rotary screw compressor doesn’t tend to overload.



With the use of Variable Frequency Screw Air Compressor, energy savings and integral speed control can be attractive in terms of economics, while the compressor still runs for long periods with minimal load.   This type of air compressor must be run as a top-up machine with low to moderate load even on longer running hours.  Those facts absolutely make this type of compressor more highly- recommended as ever by production experts, leaving out its counterparts in the air compression system.
